There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Hillcrest and Skyline.
Can't Touch This
Homedale's 55 - 22 win over Vale last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Mason Kincheloe. Kincheloe rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns. That performance landed Kincheloe among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Hillcrest (5th in the power rankings) and Skyline (11th) did not disappoint. Hillcrest won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Skyline 13 - 12. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Kyle Austin, who ran for 120 yards and also punched in two touchdowns.
Movin on Up
Nampa claimed most-improved honors this week by climbing the power ranking ladder seven rungs after its game against Columbia. Nampa blew past Columbia 49 - 21. Nampa did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Century (8th in the power rankings) and Highland (6th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
