The Vina Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Waterloo Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Vina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Vina's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight loss. They fell 46-33 to Hackleburg. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Vina has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sara Harper, who scored 13 points. Harper is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Hester, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Waterloo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shoals Christian. Waterloo has not had much luck with Shoals Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Vina now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Waterloo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Vina came up short against Waterloo in their previous meeting back in November, falling 62-50. Can Vina avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
