Tri-Valley had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They put the hurt on Weatherly with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Myah Schwalm made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
In other pitching news, Amber Lettich looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Summer Cupsta-Klinger was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Witmer, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Tri-Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Tri-Valley's record now sits at 15-4. As for Weatherly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will face off against Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Weatherly, they will venture away from home to face off against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.56 runs per game on average), something Weatherly will no doubt try to take advantage of.
