Logan hasn't had much luck against Bear River recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Logan and Bear River will meet for a tough Bear Battle. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Logan made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ridgeline, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Logan blew past Ridgeline 13-2 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Grizzlies needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Logan let Kiki Laing and Emma Bracken run wild. Laing scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Bracken went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Bracken posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Boyer, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Bear River faced Syracuse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Bear River was the clear victor by a 19-5 margin over Syracuse. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won six games in a row.
Kate Wilson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Bella Dougals was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubree Fry, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Bear River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted an OBP of .333.
Bear River pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Logan, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Logan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
