The Cypress Creek Bears posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Celebration and snuck past 36-33. The win was familiar territory for Cypress Creek who now have three in a row.
Timberlyn Campbell was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Contreras, who scored six points.
When it comes to explaining why Celebration lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evelyn Juden. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. That was a full 36.4% of Celebration's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Valeria Martinez, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Cypress Creek now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Celebration, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek and Freedom will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Freedom and Cypress Creek are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Celebration, they will head out on the road to take on Harmony at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
