Howard is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Archmere Academy is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Howard Wildcats will take on the Archmere Academy Auks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Howard faced Odessa in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Howard secured a 30-25 W over Odessa. That's two games straight that Howard has won by exactly five points.
Howard can attribute much of their success to Rahsaan Matthews, Jr, who threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Archmere Academy can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tower Hill 44-6 on the road.
Archmere Academy had a senior duo take command as Cole Fenice gained 147 total yards and three touchdowns and Miles Kempski threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Howard's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Archmere Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Howard came up short against Archmere Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 13-0. Can Howard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
