The Kimball Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Lodi Flames at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kimball is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Tracy hit Kimball with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Jaguars came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Jaguars' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Kimball saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Zamora, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lodi waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Flames might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Abby Schweigerdt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Blank was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Lodi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's only posted a batting average of .087.
Kimball's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Lodi, their record now sits at 14-5.
Kimball's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lodi, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Kimball continue to outrun the ball?
Kimball might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Lodi in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
