Softball Game Preview: Walled Lake Central Vikings vs. Walled Lake Northern Knights

Walled Lake Central is 1-9 against Walled Lake Northern since June of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Walled Lake Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mott with a sharp 20-8 victory on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Walled Lake Central got a massive performance out of Cameron Zaid, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Zaid a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessica Fick, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Walled Lake Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Walled Lake Northern came out on top against Goodrich on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Martians an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Walled Lake Central has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Walled Lake Northern, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Walled Lake Central might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Walled Lake Northern in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
