The Norborne Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Southwest on the road and fell 62-35. Norborne has struggled against Southwest recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Norborne's loss came despite strong showings from Kottin McClure and Thad Hopkins. McClure scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Hopkins scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Southwest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grant Warren out in front who scored 27 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Warren has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Breckyn Volker, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Norborne's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Southwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season.
Norborne will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tina-Avalon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Norborne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday. As for Southwest, they will face off against Higbee at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Higbee comes in on 12 and Southwest on three.
