It was a good run, but The Williston Northampton Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cheshire Academy. While losing is never fun, Williston Northampton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 38th in Massachusetts, while Cheshire Academy is ranked second in Connecticut).
Dante Reno got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Mills, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Williston Northampton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Cheshire Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-0.
Williston Northampton will challenge Suffield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cheshire Academy, they will be playing at home against Salisbury School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
