Even though Canutillo has not done well against Chapin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Canutillo had just enough and edged Chapin out 33-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Canutillo has posted yet this season.
Jefferson's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Canutillo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Jefferson was dealt a bruising 55-12 defeat at the hands of Canutillo in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Jefferson, Kimberly Cruz (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
