Despite the loss, Wesson still got an impressive performance from Austin Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson set a new season high mark in steals with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Brice, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Wesson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
South Pike was led to victory by Jovon Leavy and Lavell Thompson. Leavy scored 17 points, while Thompson scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Leavy's sixth in a row with at least ten points. John Harrell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wesson's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-13. As for South Pike, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Wesson will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. As for South Pike, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Jefferson County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
