El Rancho moved up to 304 from 352 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Del Rio. The Dons climbed the ranks as a result of beating Santa Fe 45-13.
La Serna extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Whittier, 56-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Lancers.
Frankie Palmer threw for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Palmer and Anthony Garcia gave La Serna a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Palmer also contributed to the rushing game with 112 yards on the ground.
The Chiefs' Christian Lara and Brandon Takata led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Lara has thrown for 1,642 yards this season, while Takata has 40 catches for 866 yards. AARON ESCARENO from El Rancho leads the league in rushing with 852 yards.
The top two teams in Del Rio will face off this week when first place La Serna takes on second place El Rancho. Last week, Margarito Beltran's team defeated the Cardinals, while VINNIE LOPEZ's team beat Santa Fe.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Lancers and the Dons face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, La Serna comes in having scored 335 this season, while El Rancho has scored 292. The Lancers scored 56 points last week as they bested Whittier.
California was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Condors vanquished Pioneer 27-6 earlier in the week.
