Ritchie County took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Frontier Cougars 12-10. The victory was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on six straight dating back to last season.
The team relied heavily on Teagan Backus, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Silas Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ritchie County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frontier only managed nine.
Looking ahead, Ritchie County will challenge Ravenswood at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Rebels' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
