Even though the M.L. King Lions have not done well against the Lithonia Bulldogs recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. M.L. King escaped with a win against Lithonia by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. Despite the win, that was the fewest points M.L. King has scored all season.
It was another big night for Kennedy Ruzvidzo jr., who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Bowers, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The win (which was M.L. King's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. As for Lithonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. M.L. King will square off against Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Apalachee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 396th, while M.L. King is ranked 114th). As for Lithonia, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheeler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
