Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Augustine walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Liberty Magnet Patriots on Thursday. The Purple Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ivell Oatis tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Mekhi McCollum was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Fields, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

St. Augustine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Magnet only posted an OBP of .235.

The victory (which was St. Augustine's third in a row) raised their record to 19-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty Magnet, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-17.

Looking ahead, St. Augustine will face off against St. Thomas More on Tuesday. Liberty Magnet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
