The Union City Indians lost against the Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Union City suffered a tough 60-40 defeat at the hands of Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. While losing is never fun, Union City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian is ranked 123rd).
Union City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camryn Fischer, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Fischer scored a full 27.5% of Union City's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Luane Schoonbroodt was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Union City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Union City will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Union at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Union focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Saturday. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian and Blackford will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Blackford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
