The result was an unpleasant reminder to Rising Sun of the 40-38 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Rising Sun lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alyssa Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenna Peelman, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Rising Sun's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Switzerland County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Rising Sun will be playing at home against Shawe Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Shawe Memorial is ranked 288th, while Rising Sun is ranked 299th). As for Switzerland County, they will head out on the road to take on Oldenburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oldenburg Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
