Basketball Recap: Vinny Hendrix's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kankakee Trinity Academy over Iroquois West

If Kankakee Trinity Academy was feeling good fresh off their 82-50 takedown of Donovan last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Kankakee Trinity Academy fell to the Iroquois West Raiders 63-57. Kankakee Trinity Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Iroquois West apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Kankakee Trinity Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vinny Hendrix, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Hendrix's third in a row with at least ten points. Akira Hori was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six assists and four steals.

Kankakee Trinity Academy's record now sits at 8-5. As for Iroquois West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Kankakee Trinity Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calvary Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Kankakee Trinity Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Calvary Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Iroquois West, they will venture away from home to face off against Watseka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
