Southwest was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Preble. The Fighting Trojans came in at 15 in the state poll after placing at number 37 last week.
Pulaski was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in Fox River Classic. The Red Raiders beat Lincoln 41-24 earlier in the week.
South's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Knuth threw for 38 yards and Mitchell Martinez had 21 yards receiving. On the ground Knuth chipped in 60 yards. Andrew Wildmann helped South's passing attack out by catching two balls for 17 yards.
Bay Port's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Colton Peterson has thrown for 952 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Peyton Armstrong has 30 catches for 473 yards. Alec Ingold leads the league in rushing with 742 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Southwest and Bay Port. Bryce Paup's team enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while the Pirates ranks 24th.
Two of the top units in Fox River Classic will face off this week when Bay Port takes on the Fighting Trojans. Gary Westerman's team's offense has recorded 289 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Southwest has permitted only 61 on the year.
