The Bandera BULLDOGS entered their tilt with the Devine Warhorses with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Bandera walked away with a 31-21 victory over Devine on Friday. For Bandera, this counts as revenge for the 42-14 defeat Devine walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
It was another big night for Jesse Cardenas, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 167 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes. Bandera also got help from Corben Gonzales who showed off his sure hands for 117 receiving yards.
Bandera's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 John F. Kennedy and 3-6 Cotulla (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.8% over those games). As for Devine, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Bandera will head out on the road to face off against Young Men's Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Devine, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pearsall at 7:00 p.m.
