The Clinton Arrows came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Murrah with a sharp 62-42 victory on Tuesday. Given Clinton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clinton was led to victory by Jatoi Johnson and Taelar Felton. Johnson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Felton scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Felton has scored at least a third of Clinton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eyana Mckinley, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Murrah, they dropped their record down to 4-21 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton will challenge the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Karley Robinson and Felton. As for Murrah, they will head out on the road to take on the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
