Center Grove came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Greenfield-Central Cougars with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Trojans have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Eric McAtee looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drake McClurg, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Hudson Stewart was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Center Grove's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

Center Grove wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-3 victory against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 24th. As for Greenfield-Central, they will challenge Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
