Cass (Walton, Ind.) put an additional 13 points on the board on top of its 52-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Peru (Ind.) 46-7.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gabe Welch in the first quarter, the Kings were up 27-0 at the half.
Cass expanded its lead to 52 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on an
Owen Ohman touchdown run.
The loss snapped Peru's four-game winning streak.
Cass' standout player in the win was Ohman. The junior quarterback ran for two touchdowns.
Peru's only touchdown came on a 6-yard run by Nolan Brimbury in the third quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 45-0 win for the Kings.
The loss comes after Peru defeated Taylor 47-0 last week. The victory was a step in the right direction for Cass, which was coming off a 28-20 defeat at the hands of Hamilton Heights in its previous game. The victory ended Cass' three-game losing streak.
In a Mid-Indiana game next week Cass (2-3) takes on Eastern, and Peru (4-1) will go up against Western also in a Mid-Indiana game.
