The Mulberry Grove Aces will head out on the road to square off against the Farina South Central Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mulberry Grove is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 19-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Mulberry Grove came up short against First Baptist Academy and fell 60-48.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Icenogle, who scored 15 points. Carter Scoggins was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Farina South Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by St. Anthony 59-24. While losing is never fun, Farina South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while St. Anthony is ranked 67th).
Mulberry Grove has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Farina South Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.
Mulberry Grove suffered a grim 69-44 defeat to Farina South Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Mulberry Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
