Bobby Haworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Lutheran's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Haworth was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Joey Hollyer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Josh Baltz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy nor Lutheran Northwest made it on the board until the seventh inning. While the Sentinels didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
