Softball Recap: Leyden Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Leyden put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the DePaul College Prep Rams by a score of 7-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Abigail Cortez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Arianna Gallo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gianna Olan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Leyden's record now sits at 3-0. As for DePaul College Prep, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Leyden will welcome York at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for DePaul College Prep, they will venture away from home to face off against Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
