  Nalia Nuanez and  Danyele Bertino stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Nuanez  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while  Bertino  went 2-for-4 with a  triple, a  stolen base,  and a  run. The team also got some help courtesy of  Seaven Fuimaono, who  went 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Oceanside  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 On Canyon Crest Academy's side,  Grace Yao made a big impact no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only two  hits over four innings pitched. Yao has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Yao was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other pitching news,  Carrie Krummen looked comfortable as she  didn't allow a single  earned run over four innings pitched.
 Yao wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Melony Garcia, who  went 2-for-5 with a  double and  an  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Sophie Kearse, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances.
 Oceanside's loss dropped their record down to 8-4-1. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their win  ended  a  nine-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 2-16.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oceanside will  take on Vista at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Oceanside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6  runs per game  this season, so Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Sage Creek at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
