Long Creek unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Wagner Thunderbirds 49-19 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1103rd, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 311th).
 Leading Wagner to victory were  J'Anthony Price and  Jozyne Scott.  Price gained 116 total yards and five touchdowns, while  Scott rushed for 142 yards and a pair of  TDs on only five carries. Scott got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 73 yards.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long Creek will host Marion  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Wagner, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Dripping Springs  at 7:00  p.m.  on September 5.
