The Gregori Jaguars pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Downey. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (57), Gregori still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Jayden Coelho, who scored 32 points for Downey. That makes it four consecutive games in which Coelho has scored at least 25% of Downey's points. Another player making a difference was Collin Eden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Gregori and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Downey, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gregori will square off against Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Downey will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Pitman at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Pitman presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Downey in California (Pitman is ranked 266th, while Downey is ranked 630th).
