South Warren has gone 8-2 against Greenwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Spartans will take on the Gators at 5:30 p.m. South Warren is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
South Warren came out on top against Bowling Green on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run second inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Purples. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.
Layla Ogden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, South Warren got a massive performance out of McLaine Hudson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Keegan Pruitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
South Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Greenwood's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Allen County-Scottsville by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Gators couldn't push the score so high this time.
South Warren's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-4.
South Warren came up short against Greenwood when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 6-3. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
