The Wellington Dukes entered their tilt with the Clearview Clippers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Wellington strolled past Clearview with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 57-40. Given Wellington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Clearview is ranked 670th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Wellington to victory were Gabby Miller and Brooke Lehmkuhl. Miller dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Lehmkuhl dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Miller hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Morris, who scored six points along with two steals.
Wellington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Clearview, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
Wellington will head out on the road to square off against Vermilion at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wellington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Clearview, they will be playing at home against Brooklyn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
