Horizon is a perfect 4-0 against Clint since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Horizon Scorpions will host the Clint Lions at 6:30 p.m. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Horizon will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Monahans on Saturday. Horizon was the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Monahans. Considering the Scorpions have won three games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Axel Cardiel was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Damian Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Horizon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clint entered their contest against Deming on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Clint fell 8-3 to Deming.
Mario Pacheco and Abraham Medina stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pacheco went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Medina scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Medina has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.
Horizon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Clint's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Horizon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Clint struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Horizon took their victory against Clint when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 9-1. Does Horizon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clint turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
