West Point has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Pell City Panthers in a holiday battle at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at. One thing working in West Point's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Monday, West Point beat Vinemont 57-50.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Pell City's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Cullman 57-53.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Saniya McFarlin, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyana Allen, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
West Point pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Pell City, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
