A feisty cat fight will be fought as Midlothian Panthers take on Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Midlothian was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Terrell on Tuesday. Midlothian blew past Terrell 31-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.
Abby Insley looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Maddie Copeland and Addison Prescott did most of the damage at the plate: Copeland went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Prescott went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Prescott a new career-high. Adrie Tovar was another key player, scoring five runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terrell only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Midlothian Heritage had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Lions. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly ten runs.
Skeylah Shirley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Shirley was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Midlothian Heritage got a massive performance out of Taylor Bilderback, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Rylee Parrish, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI.
Midlothian Heritage's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Midlothian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Midlothian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Midlothian Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Midlothian was able to grind out a solid win over Midlothian Heritage when the teams last played on March 4th, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midlothian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
