Durant had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Wilton Beavers as they made off with a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaden Sickels made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Colby Gast and Seamus Devine did most of the damage at the plate: Gast went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run, while Devine got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Gast has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Holtz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Durant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Durant pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Wilton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durant will welcome Mid-Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Louisa-Muscatine at 5:00 p.m.
