V Section IV recap October 8, 2013
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's Greyson Boyll recorded the longest rushing play in V Section IV this season in his game against Scottsdale Christian Academy last week. Boyll ran for 87 yards on the play and finished with 173 on the day as his team topped the Eagles.
Nick Smith and Matt Munsil provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Scottsdale Christian Academy. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Munsil had a great week catching the football as Scottsdale Preparatory Academy topped Kevin Allen's team. He caught 11 passes for 248 yards.
Smith threw for 387 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Zechariah Gatling was a beast in the backfield as the Eagles fell to Will Munsil's team.
Alex Akiu was a key player and the best on defense this week as Tempe Prep defeated Chandler Prep. The 5-foot-8 junior grabbed 1 interception.
Smith put up the best numbers through the air as the Spartans bested Scottsdale Christian Academy. Smith's favorite target this week was Munsil, who caught 11 passes for 248 yards.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's Smith and Munsil led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Smith has thrown for 1,510 yards this season, while Munsil has 31 catches for 674 yards. The Eagles' Gatling leads the league in rushing yards with 675.
An important game coming up in V Section IV this week will be when Paradise Honors takes on the Spartans. Paradise Honors is currently in fifth, while Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is in first.
The Spartans moved up to 122 from 149 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was able to move up by defeating Scottsdale Christian Academy 60-33.
