The Coffee Trojans will be playing at home against the Greenbrier Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coffee has eight straight victories, Greenbrier has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Coffee can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Jenkins 34-0 at home. Given Coffee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Jenkins is ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coffee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Fred Brown out in front who rushed for 167 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. Brown hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Paulk, who gained 133 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier was beaten by Ware County 64-20 on Friday. Greenbrier was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.
Greenbrier's loss came about despite a quality game from Vernon Guyton, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Coffee's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points per game. As for Greenbrier, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Coffee has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 387.2 total yards per game. It's a different story for Greenbrier, though, as they've been averaging only 218.4 per game. Will Coffee be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Greenbrier flip the ?
