Even though the Terry Sanford Bulldogs scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Overhills Jaguars still came out on top. Overhills managed a 63-59 victory over the Bulldogs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Overhills also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Deshaun Barton was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Poston, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Terry Sanford saw an underclassman step up: Gaven Kraut scored 17 points along with five assists and three steals. It was the first time this season that Kraut scored 15 or more points. Johnathan Higgins-Simmons was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Overhills back to even at 8-8. As for Terry Sanford, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Overhills will be playing at home against the Golden Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (E.E. Smith is ranked 335th, while the Jaguars are ranked 311th). As for Terry Sanford, they will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Triton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
