The Edna Karr Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 59-31 whooping from Oakdale. Edna Karr lost against Oakdale in their previous head to head on Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-31 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Edna Karr saw an underclassman step up: Cass Antoine scored 13 points. The contest was Antoine's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Hartford, who scored six points.
Edna Karr's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 12-11. As for Oakdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 17-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edna Karr is on the road again on Monday and play against Wright at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th. Wright has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Oakdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Avoyelles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avoyelles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Oakdale is ranked 29th).
