The Kansas Comets and the Idabel Warriors squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Kansas Comets had to settle for second. Kansas took a 42-28 bruising from Idabel. The contest was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Kansas was blown out by Idabel in the second.
It was another big night for Matrail Lopez, who rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Idabel also got a significant boost from Waylon Phillips, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Kansas' defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Idabel, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Kansas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Idabel will take on Millwood at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Millwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Idabel likes a good challenge.
