The Northmor Golden Knights will take on the Galion Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Northmor is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Northmor came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Clear Fork by a score of 5-3 on Friday.
Northmor saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate Kissling, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galion). They blew past Marion Harding 13-4 on Friday. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Presidents on their field since April 10, 2019.
Maddie Beck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Madelyn Schieber was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn McKee was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Galion lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Northmor now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Galion, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
Northmor was able to grind out a solid win over Galion when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 10-7. Do the Golden Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
