The Rhinebeck Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Hudson Bluehawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rhinebeck hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Rhinebeck came into this matchup off a tough 13-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Our Lady of Lourdes by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 17, 2024.
Rhinebeck saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Giles, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hudson). Everything went their way against Cairo-Durham on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-0 win. With that victory, the Bluehawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Antonio Troy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hudson got a massive performance out of Gannon Logue, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Logue is becoming a predictor of the Bluehawks' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Eli Conte was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Hudson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Hudson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7. As for Rhinebeck, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rhinebeck has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
