Mauldin jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Mauldin moved up from No. 34 in the state all the way to No. 13 thanks to a 1-1 record over the past week. Led by manager Todd Robinson, the Mavericks are ranked No. 382 in the nation with an overall record of 6-9.
Byrnes (19-2, 7-2) is red-hot, having won 12 straight games, the longest such streak in AAAA Region II. The streak was extended by another two games over the past week, including a 6-5 win over Mauldin.
