After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lutheran North, the Northland Christian Cougars were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They skirted past Alpha Omega Academy 36-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Northland Christian has posted since November 9, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northland Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabby White, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Northland Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Sami Hearn, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Alpha Omega Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kathryn Peach. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 25 rebounds. Peach has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Wallace, who scored seven points.
Northland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Alpha Omega Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northland Christian will challenge First Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Alpha Omega Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Rosehill Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rosehill Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alpha Omega Academy in Texas (Rosehill Christian is ranked 215th, while Alpha Omega Academy is ranked 983rd).
