I Northern - High Desert recap Sept. 26, 2012
Reno scored a stunning upset when it knocked off McQueen, 24-21. At the time, the Lancers was ranked 12th in the state, while the Huskies was 29th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Reno, who took down 12th ranked McQueen, 24-21.
Spanish Springs's dynamic duo of Hunter Fralick and Vance Lively proved tough for Douglas to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fralick threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns and Lively had 152 yards receiving. Ryder Lowry helped Spanish Springs' passing attack out by catching seven balls for 125 yards.
Jonathan Watson was the most productive running back in I Northern - High Desert this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 69 yards as Hug bested the Tigers. Teammate Jawon Smith-Bennett added to the ground attack by rushing for 54 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Mark Nowaczewski and Ty Shepard Reed has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Nowaczewski leads the league in passing with 1441 yards, while Shepard has rushed for 596 yards this season. North Valleys's JESSE KRUEGER leads the league in receiving yards with 779 on 33 catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Jim Snelling's team and the Raiders. The Lancers comes into the matchup ranked 25th in the state, while Reed ranks 16th.
Smith-Bennett and Rafael Figueroa provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Galena. The connection went for 77 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
