Patagonia is 0-9 against Duncan since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Lobos will challenge the Wildkats at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Patagonia will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Valley Union, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lobos came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 8-4 on Wednesday.
Kannon Shore made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Shore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Patagonia's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Woods, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Noah Gallardo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Duncan made easy work of Palo Verde on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Wildkats have won four games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Patagonia, Duncan also got a great game from a two-way player: Pablo Ruiz. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Ruiz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Duncan let Joe Nandino and Dayton Penry run wild. Nandino went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple, while Penry went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Guy Reidhead, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Duncan's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Patagonia, their record is now 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Patagonia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Duncan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Patagonia suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Duncan in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
