Despite the loss, Capital Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Syre Gillespie posted 35 points and six rebounds. Gillespie's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mha'Nye March, who scored 16 points and seven boards.
Even though they lost, Capital Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Amistad's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Capital Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Amistad, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
