The Catalina Trojans will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the San Miguel Vipers at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Catalina suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 97-16 defeat at the hands of Sabino.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to San Miguel, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a serious blow against Tanque Verde on Tuesday, falling 75-9. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Miguel in their matchups with Tanque Verde: they've now lost three in a row.
Catalina bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for San Miguel, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Catalina took their win against San Miguel in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 40-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catalina since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
