Southern Wells is 1-9 against Woodlan since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. After a string of three wins, Southern Wells' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 53-39 to Jay County.
Despite their defeat, Southern Wells saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chandler Oswalt, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Perrin Gates was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Woodlan pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-57 walloping at the hands of Fort Wayne South Side. Woodlan's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Southern Wells' loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Woodlan, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Southern Wells might still be hurting after the 79-56 defeat they got from Woodlan when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Southern Wells, Dejay Gerig (who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
